Deirdré L. Webster Cobb, Esq.

Deirdré Webster Cobb earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Chatham College in Pittsburgh, PA, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.  In addition, she holds an Equal Employment Opportunity Certification from Rutgers University and is a Certified Public Manager through the State of New Jersey and Fairleigh Dickinson University.  Drawing on more than 38 years of experience in regulatory and administrative law related to the enforcement of Federal and State Labor and employment law, Ms. Cobb provides knowledge of HR and EEO to benefit all stakeholders and customers.  She distinguished herself as a public servant, beginning her career in 1987 as a Governor’s Fellow with the NJ Department of Personnel, which is now the NJ Civil Service Commission during the Kean Administration.  Many years later, she was appointed Chair and CEO of the NJ Civil Service Commission by Governor Philip D. Murphy in February 2018 and served in that capacity for five years, until her retirement from public service in 2023.  Prior to leading the Civil Service Commission, Deirdré worked in leadership positions at various NJ state government departments, including the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Department of Community Affairs, and the Department of Personnel. In 2002, Ms. Cobb was hired at the Department of the Treasury as the Director of the Division of Contract Compliance and Equal Employment Opportunity in Public Contracts and served in this capacity for almost ten years.   While at Treasury, she also managed the Office of Ethics Development and the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative and Diversity Programs. Additionally, Ms. Cobb previously worked as an attorney for the District of Columbia City Council’s Legislative Committee, the District of Columbia Office of the People’s Counsel and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Council No. 1.  She is admitted to practice before state and federal courts in the State of New Jersey.
